Everyone is Beijing is fit and trim. There's no talk of dieting or visits to the gym. The Beijingers of all ages go to the park for their daily exercise. And we were no exception. After an early morning prayer session with Confucius for Marc and an early morning dance with the hundred-year-old man for RE, we joined the locals in the park for some gymnastics.
Here you can see Marc dong his push ups as well as walking on the treadmill with his friend. They sing together, they dance, they play hacky sack tournaments and exercise - exercise - exercise. Impressive.
To continue the sports theme of the day, we stopped off at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Park where we visited the giant Bird Nest - the stadium where the Opening and Closing Beijing Olympic extravaganzas took place. We also visited the giant Water Cube and the swimming pool where Michael Phelps swam for 8 gold metals. Impresssive.
Our visit to Beijing will be wrapping up tonight with a (US style) steak dinner (really, really getting tired of Chinese food) and then tomorrow we are off to Xi-an. Talk to you from there!
Ruthellen your pictures are beautiful! I can't wait to see what's next.
